Asian Flavored Pork Burgers

Should make 6 - 8 burgers

These are great cooked on the stove and terrific for a barbeque. They can also be made into tiny balls or patties for a tasty cocktail finger food.

500 gr or 1 lb ground pork
1 large spring onion finely chopped
1 msk. or 1 tbls. finely chopped ginger
1 msk. or 1 tbls. finely chopped garlic
1 msk. or 1 tbls. chopped coriander (available from Asian food shops)
2 msk. or 2 tbls. light chinese soya or Kikoman Japanese soya
2 msk. or 2 tbls. sweet chili sauce (available from Asian food shops)
1 tsk. or 1 teas. cornstarch
4 msk. or 4 tbls. dried bread crumbs
5 msk. or 5 tbls water
1 egg
a little extra Sweet chili sauce to brush over burgers

Assembling the recipe:

Finely chop the spring onion, and garlic and add to the pork. Chop the coriander not quite so finely and add to the pork. Add all the rest of the ingredients to the pork including the egg and mix well by hand. Either fashion into burgers now and place in the fridge to chill for half an hour or place mixing bowl in the fridge to chill and fashion into burgers once chilled.

On a medium heat fry burgers in 1 or 2 msk (1 or 2 tbls), vegetable oil for 5 minutes on one side, turn and paint with a little extra sweet chili sauce and cook for an additional 3 to 4 minutes.

Serve with Asian Flavored Red and Green Pepper Salsa and plain white rice.

If you don't feel like making a salsa use a little Thai sweet chili sauce they will still be great.

Notes:

I like this recipe because it gives me another nicely seasoned ground pork recipe that is really good for the barbeque grill with a hamburger bun or a quick dinner served with rice. It's good with my Asian Flavored Red and Green Pepper Salsa or just some extra Thai sweet chili sauce if that's what you have in the refrigerator.
