The
Barmen's Conversion Chart
These
are the standard European measures for mixed drinks. |
|
|
| This
chart came from "Larousse Cocktails" which I just purchased
on-line at Amazon.com. It is fantastic and has over 550 recipes for
drinks, practical advice on making cocktails, glasses to use, equipment
you need, lore and stories concerning the origins of the cocktail
and 60 recipes for food suitable to go with them. It has a history
of the mixed drink from before 1800. I didn't know it but the cocktail
is another American invention that has migrated around the world. |
| |
| The
book is Larousse Cocktail, by Fernando Castellon, translated (from
French) Published by Hamlyn, a divion of Octoputs Publishing Group
Ltd. and printed in England 2005, cover price 20£. (ISDN 0-600-61261-9) |
| |
| I
bought mine on-line for 10£, marked "like new - used",
it was in perfect condition and with postage (5 days) it cost a total
of 188 kronor. Considering the depth of this book it would have been
a bargain at 30£, I will be deferring to it for the rest of
my life - or until they produce an up-dated version in 20 years. |
| |
| It
is an elegant, beautifully laid out book that will be an indispensable
guide for you, I highly recommend it. It will be this years Christmas
gift to a number of my friends. |
