Cooling
Racks
It
would seem that if your even slightly interested in baking
a cooling rack is really a very important accessory for your
kitchen. There is nothing as horrible as trying to cool a
cake or tart by balancing it between two chop sticks balanced
across glasses or a couple of can of baby peas.
The
standing rack works really well for pies and tarts. It was
super cheap at IKEA, I think it cost 50 kronor or 4 dollars.
The flat rack is perfect for two layers of cake, cookies and
tarts. It sits off the counter by a couple of centimeters
or an inch, so that the air can circulate well. This was also
really cheap. Keep an eye open in the second hand shop for
one.
If
you can only afford or have limited space go for the flat
type.
I
did make the fatal mistake of thinking that my flat rack was
stainless steel and tried washing it in the dishwasher. It
took quite a bit of scrubbing to clean it up after that. It
now gets washed by hand.
