Aromatic Spice: Caraway or Persian cumin (Carum carvi) is a biennial plant in the family Apiaceae, native to Europe and western Asia.
Season:
Available year round dried.
Uses in Cooking:  

Used for centuries to flavor baked goods, pickles, cheeses, coleslaw, potatoes, cabbage, carrots, green beans, sausage and cucumber salads. It is also used it to flavor sauerkraut for pork dishes in Central Europe, Germany and France. Akvavit and several liqueurs are also flavored with caraway.

Aromatic seed: Caraway seeds comes dried whole and are small, brown, crescent-shaped, with a slight licorice taste. They also come dried and ground fine.
